"Innovative,
Environmentally Friendly Solutions"
 At
Pantano Energy Services, we strive to resolve our customers'
environmental and safety
concerns through our rig design and drilling procedures.
1) The industry is
concerned about the footprint of drilling rigs.
Our
core drilling rigs are designed to have the smallest possible
footprint, while maintaining a safe and efficient drilling rig.
The
footprint of our 300m rig is only 15m by 11m, meeting all EUB and
industry regulations. Comparatively, this is half the size of
most of
our direct competition's rigs. All of our equipment will
travel on 6m
right-of-ways with no need to widen corners. We have a new design that
allows a 600m rig to drill on the access road -- no lease required!
Our equipment has the ability to service the core drilling market year
round, reducing the amount of equipment and people required to complete
a project and making the footprint smaller through decreased
traffic and noise.
2) The industry
needs to prevent fluid spills and leave a clean, contaminant-free
location.
The
unique design of our rigs dramatically reduces the number of hydraulic
and mud connections between pieces of equipment. Our pump is
integrated into the same skid as the tank with permanent suction
lines. Further, we have put catch trays and dumps where
necessary to
catch fluid with the vacuum unit. Our hydraulic oil is
Petro-Canada's
environmentally-friendly Environ AW. The system is designed
to reduce
the number of connections and therefore possible leaks.
3) Our customers
and industry regulators are concerned about the compaction of muskeg
and the disturbance of soil profiles.
Pantano
equipment is designed to have a ground pressure of less than
3psi. As well, our equipment travels slowly, reducing sheer
forces in the soil.
4) Safety is a huge
concern for all involved in a drilling operation.
Our
rig design will significantly reduce incidents by eliminating pinch
points, automating pipe handling, keeping hands off the drill floor and
by creating an ergonomic, easy-to-work-in environment.
Two
to
three of our rigs can do the work of ten standard core rigs in any
given year. The reduction in traffic alone will significantly
reduce
incident rates in the field. Our equipment also travels more
slowly
than conventional equipment, with top speeds of about 30km/hour,
creating safer roads.
With year-round capabilities, we will
attract and retain quality employees looking for a steady income and
schedule (a rare opportunity in a seasonal industry).
Combined with a
first class training program, our crews will be among the safest and
most efficient in the industry.
5) The winter
season seems to be getting shorter and program costs are escalating.
Our
year-round service is priced competitively with the current seasonal
market. Our ability to work year round will allow our clients
to
complete projects on schedule and "level load" project costs.
We
require minimal construction for access roads and leases. We
can walk
over small brush, snow, steep grades and water. Pantano will
not
require watering of roads to freeze them and will have far less impact
to the environment. In turn, the savings from quicker site
restoration
(to the satisfaction of industry regulators) will be achieved for our
customers.
